Who are we?

On August 1, 2021, Hartwood Consulting merged with Advanced Technology Testing and Research (ATTAR). ATTAR shares Hartwood Consulting’s culture, values and strong customer focus.  The combined capability and expertise of both companies opens an exciting new chapter in Hartwood Consulting’s 25-year history and adds considerable value to clients seeking specialist solutions.

Hartwood Consulting was established by Dr Peter Hart in early 1996 and operates with a network of associates. Peter Hart was also Chairman of the Australian Road Transport Suppliers Association (ARTSA) for 10 Years.

As a division of ATTAR, Hartwood Consulting provides electrical and mechanical engineering services with specialties in expert witness forensic investigations, heavy vehicle certification, electrical safety and heavy vehicle (electrical) technologies.

Founded in 1986 by Dr Gary Martin and Don McConville, ATTAR was established to conduct materials testing and research using the most advanced techniques available and to provide high-quality NDT training to Australian industry. From its facilities in Melbourne, Perth and Townsville, ATTAR provides materials failure analysis, forensic engineering, materials and mechanical testing, expert witness services, compliance testing, condition monitoring, non-destructive testing training, examination and consultancy services, and professional writing training.
